Brawlout: The Review!

Every game developed by big companies or small independent developers has its own special features that can make gamers all around the world want to try out the game. Games in early access most certainly draw a bigger crowd. For me, early access games are a very pleasant way to spend time. Exploring new ideas and developers. And with the game Brawlout, I definitely found something extraordinary.

Still in early access, Brawlout is an action/indie/casual game developed by Angry Mob Games on April 20, 2017. On May 2014 the same company gave us Muffin Knight, another indie/action/adventure/casual game. So for any of you who will play Brawlout, if you do like it, support the company by getting their first game as well.

Brawlout is definitely a very interesting game to play. You start with a pool of different heroes from which you can choose the hero you will fight with. The setting is quite standard. One arena, your hero versus the computer or another player in a fight to the death. Try to think about it as a much lighter and a lot funnier version of games like Mortal Kombat or Teken.

Each fighter has his own special skills and abilities. While progressing through the game, you will be able to unlock more abilities for each character and customise them with the proper masteries. Currently, each of the six fighters has its own unique battle style, yielding powers like ice, fire, brute strength and a lot of long whips! So, you will definitely be able to find a fighter of your style and preference.

Brawlout is also giving you the ability to choose from a variety of different maps with completely different platforms and of course different layouts. And we all know what that means. More maps equal more fun!

Although it is a competitive platform fighter game, designed for casual play, you can have online ranked matches that will help you show your skills, competitive tournaments that you can be a part of and of course and local games that you can play with your friends in battles that can be up to 8 people at the same time. That’s right, you and seven others can fight each other in one single map, altogether until there is only one winner or winning team!

The game is offering you a practice mode. This is going to be excellent for new players who do not have a lot of experience in these kinds of games and of course, for all the players want to learn the basics of this particular game before moving on to ranked games and online tournaments. In the practice mode, you will be facing a fighter controlled by the CPU. However, that fighter is not moving. Basically, you can consider the fighter as a dummy doll on which you will be able to practice your skills and master the abilities of each fighter!

The graphics of the game are quite simple and at the same time very well designed. When you first enter the game, you will be reminded of older, a lot simpler fighting games with graphics reminding you of simple animated series for children. However, this is the essence of the game and this is what makes it so much fun to play and at the same time very casual. Of course, since this is a new game, you will see that, the details on the graphics are actually taking the whole game up a notch. It seems like a game for children but it is most certainly not!

The gameplay is very simple. You are using the direction buttons in order to move your character and the dot and coma buttons for a regular and special attack. Of course, you do have more options while playing the game like for example dodge and jump by pressing the appropriate buttons. You can always change the settings and configure them to the way you will be most comfortable with!

The special thing about it is the fact that, it has a story mode. Since the game is still in early access, the story mode has not yet been added. However, we can definitely hope for something interesting. After all, the game has already received some pretty amazing reviews from other gamers and developers will not disappoint us.

The music of the game is exactly what a person might expect. A lot of electric guitar and a good bass. Everything a gamer needs to get inspired and start fighting. The music will definitely get you all pumped up and ready for battle!

Among the many options of the game, you have the ability to spectate live matches through the Brawlout Tv option and of course, chat and talk in game with the use of Discord! Other features of the game like the survival mode, the challenges and the tutorials have not yet been updated but we are expecting them very soon.

In conclusion, Brawlout is a game that will attract a lot of people. It has the right music, the right graphics, very interesting fighters and a lot of special abilities. If you do like these sorts of games then we definitely recommend you giving Brawlout a chance. With the current patch notes from the developers and all the positive comments the game is getting, we are expecting it to get better and better as time goes by. After all, an early access game always deserves a chance to show us what it can be in the future. And in the case of Brawlout, you definitely want to give the developers that chance!

  • Interesting fighting abilities
  • Live spectating option
  • Still in early access so, a lot to expect

  • Fighters somewhat unbalanced
